Egypt to ensure 20% of supplies for El Dabaa nuclear plant

CAIRO, Oct 9 (PRIME) -- Egypt will ensure delivery of 20% of equipment and services for construction of the first stage of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant in the country, Military Production Minister Mohamed El-Assar said late on Tuesday during an industrial and technological expo.

“The Ministry of Military Production is responsible for localization of production capacities that would provide the Russian nuclear power plant project with the equipment produced in Egypt. The first stage, creation of the first nuclear power reactor, will be 20% comprised of Egyptian components,” he said.

The El Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt will have four 1,200-megawatt units, the launch of the first unit is scheduled for 2024. Russia will provide a loan for the plant’s construction.
